Home Farm Development

Play Park at Home Farm, PortreeThe landscaping works for Phase 1 will be completed this spring.

The timber frames for all 33 houses being built in Phase II are now erected, and the first group of 10 houses are nearing internal completion. The district heating system is now operative, albeit via a temporary oil boiler. Heat is on to the first 6 houses, and the systems are working well.

Work continues at Home Farm, Portree
We are hopeful that the construction of the 6 new houses at Phase 3 will start later this month, and that the construction of the 43 new houses and flats at Phase 4 will start later this year.

Campbell's Farm, Broadford

The kits have been erected for the first 14 of the 28 new houses being built in Broadford, and the development is starting to take shape. Each new house is fitted with a solar water heating system which will help reduce the energy requirements.

The developments at Home Farm, Portree, and Campbell's Farm, Broadford, are both mixed tenure developments. This means that, as well as building affordable rented housing, we are also building units for sale on a shared equity basis through The Scottish Government's New Supply Shared Equity. There are 12 Shared Equity houses available at each development. For more information on Shared Equity, please click here. If you are interested in acquiring a Shared Equity house, please get in touch with John Lamont, our Development Officer.

The development is being built by Tulloch Homes Express. Unfortunately, works have been delayed, and the Association is not currently in a position to give a completion date.

Raasay
The Association has submitted a Cost Plan Application to The Scottish Government for our proposed development at Phase 3, Pairce na Sgoile. We hope that the application will be approved and we will be able to proceed to theTender Application stage in the near future.

Acquisition of 2 Existing Properties

We have recently purchased 10 Olaf Road, Kyleakin, and MacDiarmid Schoolhouse. 10 Olaf Road was bought on the open market, and is a former local authority house.

MacDiarmid Schoolhouse was bought from The Highland Council, and is subject to a Nominations Agreement. The Council's Education, Culture and Sports Service will control the allocation of the property.

Rental Off The Shelf Acquisitions

The Association participates in Communities Scotland's Rental Off The Shelf Scheme, whereby it purchases a property on the open market or from a Government agency. The property is brought up to rental standard and is then let to an Association tenant. This is a valuable scheme that allows the Association to meet at least some of the demand for housing in pressurised areas. The Association is currently in the process of acquiring one such Rental Off The Shelf property and is continually investigating similar opportunities.
